The Dragon Strand Tall Screen Cage system was designed to get you started with chameleons with a full feature set. From Dragon Ledges that allow you to mount plants and branches throughout the cage to the drainage tray that catches water, this cage system covers the features you didn’t know you needed until you started setting up the cage. Dragon Strand cages are handmade in the USA with phone and email customer support.

Size: 23.75” wide x 23” deep x 46” Tall which can house the most common species of

chameleon available.

Composition: Screen cage with solid PVC back panel gives you ventilation, but the solid back panel protects your house walls from mist spray.

Dragon Ledges: Each cage comes with six Dragon Ledge branch anchors which allow you to mount branches and potted plants on the side and back panels to create a “floating garden” type set-up where the plants and branches are elevated to where the chameleon needs them!

Hydration Mounts: Two hydration mounts are included that will hold Mist King or Cli-mist misting nozzles with 1/2” stems. They also have a grommeted hole for 1/4” tubing in case you want to install a plant drip system.

Drainage Tray: A fitted drainage tray is included which keeps the waste water physically separated from the inside of the cage and lifts the cage so it is not sitting in the water.

Fogger Input: If you use a fogger you quickly realize the challenge of getting the fogging hose to stay in place. This case system comes with a fogger input that accepts tubing from standard 22mm hoses.

Dual Floor panels: Two floor panels are included. One is a solid PVC floor panel and the other is a screen floor panel. The solid one can be used if you intend to put plants on the floor. The screen floor is used for essentially 100% drainage when you set up the floating garden style cage with everything elevated off the floor.

Top Panel Screen light transmission: The Tall Screen Cage system uses a screen which provides 70% light transmission. This is important for keepers calculating UV Index at the basking branch.

The most common problem with cheaper cages is that you get them home and find out valuable features are missing. How do you put branches in? How do you mount misters or foggers? Where does the water go? The Dragon Strand Tall Screen Cage System was designed by a lifelong chameleon enthusiast, Bill Strand, to answer all those questions right out of the box. This cage was designed for the beginner in mind. The desired end result was a cage system that allows the keeper to create a floating garden style cage and control where the water goes. 

Floating Garden: A floating garden is the name given to the style of chameleon cage set-up where plants and branches appear to hover in mid-air. More than just a beautiful aesthetic, this is critical to the chameleon feeling secure. Have you heard about chameleons walking the sides of their screen cage? This is due to them not feeling secure in their cage. A chameleon secure in its cage will want to stay in their cage! By mounting plants and branches in the middle of the cage you give a foliage layer where a chameleon can hide and feel safe if they desire. Whether they use it or not, it existing gives them a felling of security. You will be able to create a floating garden in the Dragon Strand Tall Screen cage because each side and back panels have two Dragon Ledges each.

Dragon Ledges: Are anchors that transfer the weight of what is inside through the screen and into the frame without putting weight on the screen. This product was invented by Dragon Strand over ten years ago and has facilitated floating gardens ever since. Hydration control: One of the most challenging aspects of chameleon husbandry is the management of water through the system. We use misters and foggers, but often do not realize you need to order special adapters to mount them. The Tall Screen Cage System includes mounting hardware for two misters with 1/2” stems (as is common with Mist King nozzles) and an input for standard 22mm fogger hoses. A unique feature of the Tall Screen Cage system is that the back is solid PVC. This does not compromise the ventilation. It does protect your house walls and furniture from mist being sprayed from inside the cage. 

Water Drainage:  Dragon Strand gives you that solution in a fitted drainage tray that collects the water. The cage actually sits on top of the drainage tray so that all the water collected is physically separated from the chameleon and anything inside the cage. There are standoffs molded into the drainage tray so your cage sits above the water level. The drainage tray is separated from the cage interior by the floor panel. The cage system comes with two floor panels - a solid plastic floor panel and a screen floor panel. You use the solid plastic panel if you need strength in the floor such as when putting down potted plants. The screen floor panel can be used when you have a floating garden and the floor is clear. The screen gives essentially 100% drainage. The Drainage Tray can be emptied by using an inexpensive wet/dry vacuum. 

Assembly: Dragon Strand cages can be assembled with a Philips head screw driver. The included assembly instructions will guide you through each step.
