Common Name: Aglaonema Night Sparkle, Chinese Evergreen
Scientific Name: Aglaonema sp.
-Care Recommendations By The Dude-
Best for These Animals: Small and medium sized reptiles and amphibians from tropical and temperate climates.
Bio Dude Substrates: TerraFlora, TerraFauna, TerraFirma
Soil Depth: Moderate to deep with proper drainage.
Lighting: Low to medium; it can tolerate high indirect light in certain circumstances. Placement directly under a heat or basking lamp may cause leaves to burn.
Humidity & Misting: 45%-100% suggested, but can tolerate 20%-45.
Mature Plant Size & Root System: Can grow up to three feet tall with a deep root system, but can be selectively pruned back. Can also be placed near or in water features.
Temperature Tolerance & Placement in the Terrarium: Too high temperatures/low humidity may cause leaves to brown. Does best in temperatures between 70 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit, but can tolerate between 60 and 85 degrees. Best used as a background (tall) planting, underplanting next to larger/taller trees, or as a corner placement.
Edible & Side Effects if Ingested: Aglaonemas are members of the family Araceae, so they contain low levels of oxalic acid and sharp calcium oxalate crystals known as raphides. Ingestion is not recommended and may cause oral irritation, though reptiles and amphibians do not typically ingest them.
Pot Size & Packaging: A single 4" potted aglaonema plant is shipped in the pot, wrapped in paper.
