Cushion Moss Care Sheet
Scientific Name: Leucobryum glaucum
Lighting Requirements:
Cushion moss thrives in low to moderate indirect light. Full-spectrum LED grow lights are recommended for consistent growth. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight as it can cause drying and discoloration.
Humidity & Watering:
Cushion moss prefers high humidity (70-90%) and requires regular misting to stay lush and green. It should remain consistently moist but not waterlogged. Use RO, distilled, or dechlorinated water to prevent mineral buildup that may harm the moss.
Temperature Range:
Ideal temperatures range between 55-75°F. It can tolerate cooler temperatures but should be protected from excessive heat or rapid temperature fluctuations.
Substrate & Placement:
Cushion moss thrives on moisture-retentive substrates such as sphagnum moss, coconut fiber, or bioactive soil. It does well when placed on logs, rocks, or soil mounds, where it forms dense, cushion-like clumps.
Growth & Maintenance:
Cushion moss grows in compact, pillow-like formations and requires little to no trimming. It does not need fertilization, making it a low-maintenance choice for bioactive setups. If it appears dry, increase misting to revive its vibrant green appearance.
